First DSLR Photoshoot - Orchid Show

I thought the annual orchid show in town here would make a good first test for my new XSi/450D and the DPP software that came with it. Here are few results:

I like all except the first shot, and that one has too much contrast and burned out highlights.
#3 also has a little bit of the same problem.

i agree you may want to tone down the contrast a little bit. #3 for me is awesowe.


... does it really matter?i see with my eyes, i shoot with my fingers.

VEry nicely done, orchids are not the easiest flower to photograph.there are so many pieces to this flower to get sharp!

As previously stated, these are not for the faint hearted as so easy to fail. However these as a series are of an exceptional standard.

Thank you all for your comments. Regarding excessive contrast, Digital Photo Pro didn't indicate any highlight clipping but I will have to be more mindful of it and overall contrast as I become more familiar with the software. On the other hand, I'm very pleased with how DPP rendered the colors.
