Any thoughts on this? Seems like a good quality fisheye...
Not sure how the images would look on a 1.6x crop body though.

Does anybody own one? Have any feed back? Or pictures for me to see?

It is designed for the 1.6x crop body so it should be fine;). No feedback from me though, as I don't own this lens...

Yea I saw that but I've heard some fisheye lenses don't actually produce a good "fisheye effect"
when used with a 1.6x crop body (aka my 350D). Even if they are designed for it...

So just wanted to get the low-down and make sure it actually produced good photos.
Not to mention image quality, sharpness, how does it perform wide open, etc. :)

Dont let the focal length scare you, Same lens

Its honestly a great deal for what you can get one for..the only other options are the Tokina Fisheye zoom (Very cool and quite good, but iirc its kinda pricey and hard to find) or the Sigma which is...well..VERY pricey...

Its one of Samyang's new good lenses...Along with their 85mm f/1.4 and the 14mm f/2.8..

I have the Pro-Optic version (Nikon mount) and I have been very happy with the pictures.

Here is a link to the $279.95 Pro-Optic version

^- Dude..Nice Camera store!

....Seriously..wtf...Idaho has a NICE CAMERA STORE? This area REALLY SUCKS...

Not that our 2 stores are bad, one is just Nikon-centric, and the other is small and stocks -very- little meaning you have to order things and wait...which if i felt like doing I'd just order online...

lol that's not idaho, well atleast not that I know of. might want to read more then the picture :p
was just fixing someone elses link as they had a red x rather then the picture.

though we do have a decent camera store as far as selection goes (idaho camera) but to me most of their prices seem to be a little high usually unless it is new items or items that generally follow a set price without much variation. when it comes to accessories and such they usually hit you hard compared to many online retailers.

plus it seems they are very promaster biased on inventory they stock which while I know is just rebaged gear I would still rather stay away from them as their gear holds very little retail once bought.

I know how you feel..I really do..thats the other problem with the place that stocks little is their prices can be pretty steep sometimes (No offense to them really...)

I honestly want to do business with my local stores and i admit i've looked at things many times and bought somewhere else because of price or a return policy....

Though i admit a big factor that had me almost go Nikon was the fact the local Nikon place is superb, nice selection, good pricing...Just jack for EF mount (They have a few sigma and tamron)

As Kenji said, this is made under multiple brand names, but all have identical optics. The cheapest version is named the Rokinon 8mm f3.5 fisheye. You can often find it for $100 cheaper than the vivitar one you linked at B&H. Don't worry about the printed mm length, they have this lens under 6.5, 7mm and 8mm in different brands, but it is all the same in real life.

Adorama has it for $280: http://www.adorama.com …aign=Other&utm_term=Other (external link)

You can get them slightly cheaper on ebay.
