Just playin' around in my backyard. I did correct the white balance using "auto" in LR.

Thanks for the feedback

I wouldn't get too enamoured of the "Auto" setting. Usually, it gives a biased result for one reason or another. A better solution is to use a grey card.

Nice shot, a little flat-looking though. Some saturation and contrast boost would look nice on this.

...or maybe even a black & white conversion to accentuate texture, while making the background darker. there's always possibilities. have fun.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

I did convert to BW and it looks great. Thanks for the feedback. I have a grey card and appreciate the links to learn on how to properly use it to set white balance.

Focus is soft on the fern itself. Keep practicing!

I usually use 'Auto' w/b in the camera, shoot RAW and use the w/b eyedropper to correct w/b in LR (as long as there's something gray or white in the image). The beauty of shooting RAW :)

Called a fiddle head. When it is first peeking up out of the ground, you can eat it.

We don't eat these ones, they are Sword ferns, but the Fiddleheads ferns come up tall and singular, and the curly bits on those are delicious in a salad or deep fried!
