I had the awesome opportunity of getting a tour of the Boeing 787 when it was here for climatic testing.

Admittedly, these are not the best pictures, basically just snapshots, because I was really more focused on the tour than on taking pictures.

Here are a couple from the tour.

It was awesome! The cockpit setup made it feel like you could just fire up the engines and take this baby for a spin...which I'm sure would have been frowned upon. :)

Yeah, it's an energy drink. The Test Engineers had been working long days for almost two straight weeks at this point and they were trying to squeeze in the last bit of testing before it left today.

In case any of you were wondering what the plane was doing for two weeks, here's a link to an article about the plane's life recently.

And, a couple more pics. The first is the left main gear and the electric brakes. The second one is the mid-section of section of the airplane looking toward the tail. The boxes are the flight testing equipment.

Holy cow! Where's the kitchen sink? I hope they didn't forget anything!

Loving the brakes and interior shots! They must have a few gazillion MB of data when they are done testing.

The Test Director didn't specify how much data they collect, but each one of those orange cables is pulling telemetry and performance data the entire time the plane is being tested, either in flight or on the ground.

I'm just thinking that I'm glad I'll be flying on it as a passenger, and not as an employee! :)

That's better than the usual scotch on the rocks.

Feel free to use any photo's that I post for any purpose that I don't find offensive. I'd be honored to find my pics used on that world wide web thingy....
