That doesn't look right

I've got this lens and a Canon 2 x convertor - very impressed with images so far. Heres an example @ 400mm, f 5.6 (wide open) ISO125, 1/320, IS on, 5D MkII

Those images have pretty much sold me on the 2x! Awesome! :D

Found this old thread and looked at your goose images. I finally saw something in the background blur that I noticed in one of my own tests, which is that a lot of background elements look to be cloned to the adjacent area. Look at the snow in the background of the image of the tree. in the TC shot, there are sharp textures whereas the bare lens shows smooth gradients.
The same goes for the waves in the water in the duck image. Just look about one inch above the tail of the duck. You'll see a wave outline that has been cloned by the TC and once you spot that one, you'll see they're all over the OOF areas.
So it seems that the sharpness is quite good, but the background blur becomes "busy" with the TC attached.
The setup I tested was a 70-200mkII with Canon 2xTCIII.

Your opinions?

Here below are some nice ones for you folks to glance at. My friend Sharon snapped these with her 7D + 100-400L + Kenko 2X MC4 DGX, using the center
focus point, MF, f11.0, FOV 1280, handheld thru the viewfinder:

Also if you desire i have quite a bit of testing in my Signature below with extenders to view.

Regards, ;)
