Anyone else have problems with their 17-40 f4L acting funny and making a highpitched noise and kinda failing to focus (even with a speedlite AF beam) when it gets cold?

Shot it twice when it was cold out (sub 60's) and both times it's done this. Any ideas? I'm going to be shooting a event on the 22nd of May that has a sizable night portion (Relay for Life...24 hour event) and I don't want it pooping out there (1.5k-2k people). Thinking just getting some fleece or get myself a small scarf to wrap around it.

I used mine in below-freezing temperatures all year with not a single problem. That's weird.

I've used mine in -15+ before the windchill and it's been fine.

I've had mine out in well below freezing temps also, never a problem.

"sub 60s" isn't even approaching cold. At least it shouldn't be as far as pretty much *any* camera gear is concerned. Is that the only time yours is giving you grief?

Something is wrong. I have used mine at freezing temperature and no issues.

I love it here in California! ... and no, having a lens or body outside when it is in the 50s should have absolutely no affect on the focus.

Anywhere from 4 to 8 hours on ski trips. When I take a break I usually leave the camera case (with camera inside) on the snow. Haven't had any problems.
