would Canada new HST blend tax raise the price of Canon camera this July 1st ?

I am contemplating buying the 7D sooner due to the introduction of the new tax.

Are there any Canadians here who can offer advice ?

If you are buying out of province from somewhere that only charges GST then it will change with the HST. For instance, I live in BC, which currently has 7% PST. If I order something from Alberta, or from Henry's or Vistek or the states for that matter, I only pay 5%. After July when BC brings in HST, I'll pay 12% on all those things. it really sucks.

So long story short - if you live in a province that is bringing in HST - buy now.

I've only heard of BC and Ontario - perhaps you will be spared for now... ;)

I believe it is only Ontario and BC that are doing this. Some of the maritimes already have this. God I love living in Alberta with no provincial sales tax......:)

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Buy it in Alberta.

The HST represents the ultimate "gang up" fleecing by the Province and the Feds.

The total tax 5% GST and 8% PST = 13%

the HST is still 13%.

I don't see any difference how it hurts me regarding camera price.

Did you see my response? It hurts if you are buying online from out of province. Now you are only paying GST if you buy something from the states or from Alberta - after July you will be paying 13% on EVERYTHING no matter where you buy from.
