Just picked up the 5 foot CL octa with grid and it gives a great light.
Here is a shot from the light testing session I had on Friday,
Shot with profoto 7b pack and head.

Congratulations :)

How about a review of the box itself? I was dead set on getting the CL 5' along with some strips since I don't have a big octa yet, but now that Elinchrom is coming out with the 5' Deep, I just don't think I could not get that. There's no way around it.

To be honest, its my first octa, so I cannot judge from past experience.

Very good build quality of the octabox itself and the rods are strong. The diffusion panels are very light and the grid is very easy to apply and remove.

Test it with a meter from edge to edge, right at the surface of the box and then at a typical working distance, say 5 feet. Then check the color of the bare head vs. through the box.

The light looks OK, but it's pretty hard to judge anything from that image.

I have a 3' Chimera Octa and the El Octabank. They both produce very nice light, but differ considerably in the image quality they produce.
