Hi all

Here are a few shots of European Shags. If I remember correctly this is considered one of the oldest bird species in the world. I have always found them fascinating and truly beautiful in full breeding plumage. I took a three day trip to a small island called Klofningur to photograph them along with Sigurjón (a member here) and two other friends. This is the second time we do this and I must say that I enjoyed every minute of it. Please feel free to comment (C&C).

Sindri, you never fail to amaze me with your images. This bird is beautiful, and you captured it perfectly. That portrait is just fabulous, how far away were you guys? Any camo gear?

Wow, number 2 is one heck of a portrait! I've never ever ever been anywhere where i can get close to shags sadly. Im going to iceland during summer, are there many easy birds to photograph?

Perfect capture, but I have exactly the opposite opinion of the bird - those things are ugly!

Outstanding shots, Sindri, perfect exposure and detail. It's a very interesting bird, appears to be related to our cormorant.

Sensational series Sindri and I trust things are getting better now that the volcanic eruption has settled down.

Gorgeous photos of a very appropriately named bird I have never seen before, thanks for sharing!

I respect Chad's opinion of course but I see nothing but beauty in this bird Sindri. I think the portrait with full breeding plumage is stunning. What a fabulous job you did but then that's what we expect from you. An absolutely incredible series of a magnificent bird. Did the volcano affect you in any way?

Hi Sindri, really nice to see your post. I couldn't reply to this until I got home to view them on a good monitor. Wow, what a treat. To be honest they looked really good on the bad monitor so I knew they'd be amazing on a decent one.

No surprises here, stunning work once again. Beautiful images Sindri.

Incredible shots Sindri, the color and detail on the last two are quite amazing... and that eye is like a jewel... beautiful work.
