Im about to do a huge event where I photograph 50 sets of people and I realized that a color correction card would help speed up the color correction process. I dont nkow what its actually called, its got a 18% neutral gray, white and black columns.

So my question is, where can I get one thats fairly cheap? One idea is to get it printed at whcc and use it for those 3 weeks, I realize it would fade over time, but it should last 3 weeks no problem. :)

Any photography store should have them if they sell equipment.

I'd really recommend a Colorchecker Passport. It is small, rugged, easily hung round your neck and I use it multiple times per shoot now whereas I rarely bothered to take out a full size card.

Small review here :

Interesting, do all the extra colors really help with color correction? compared to an all grey card?

A bit of a control freak so, if the lighting conditions are a bit odd (early morning, weird tungsten etc.) I generate a custom profile using the card and the Xrite Lightroom plugin then white balance as normal from the chart. Usually works a treat and gives me a solid starting point for future edits.

It depends on your work flow. If you like to set the black & white points, then yes, it would help to have a standard to start with. Remember that the "correct" WB isn't necessarily the "right" WB for a particular image? Would you want to neutralize the nice colors in a sunset? I tend to go by my eye, so this works for me: Gray Card…White Paper. What’s best?
