Went for a walk this afternoon and found that a pair of kildeer have set up shop in the grassy lawn of the building next door. Looked like 4 or 5 eggs, so there'll be some little killdeer running around if the landscapers don't do them in. Went to the hardware store after work and got some of those little flags used for surverying and marking off areas to dig. Maybe one of those by the eggs will give them a chance.

All shots taken with 7D, Tokina 300/2.8 and Kenko 2x TC. ISO 800, f/8 or f/11, and shutter speeds varying between 1/800 and 1/1600.

Great photos. I hope you get some babies to shoot soon as they are adorable! It's sad, so many of these birds' nests get destroyed by humans, or the eggs don't hatch. I am seeing fewer babies every year.

They apparently hatched over the weekend and I missed seeing any of the young ones. :(

Oh, that's too bad. Yep, they leave immediately, which can be a good thing for those nesting on driveways and roofs. Maybe their down by your nearest water source?
