I went out to find stuff to shoot with my new macro lens and boy did I find it! I am already in love with this lens, since it lets me shoot loads of wildlife that my 400mm can't get to, smaller stuff!
I went down to our spillway to see if anything was there. I decided to chop down some poison ivy before I started shooting and I nearly chopped a snake in half that was under some ivy! Scared me pretty good since at first glance it looked like a copperhead. The brown snake was about a foot and a half long and the black one was about four feet long and had just eaten something large. I am located in Kansas.
All shots were taken with the 100mm macro. The black snake was shot using a handheld flash. He was in a really awkward place to photograph so I did my best with what I had.
Edit: Upon doing some research I believe the snakes were a Northern Water Snake and a Western Rat Snake!
