Hoodman Photographer Glasses

Does anybody have real life experience with these glasses. They may be what I need for my shooting.

I wear glasses and i don't have any issues with shooting with them (my glasses). My nose hits the rear lcd screen before my glasses touch the rear viewfinder.

i suppose if you have bigger glasses, this might be useful for you, but i really can't see much use for this.

thanks I don't need my glasses to see throught the viewfinder I only need them to make adjustment settings so I still wonder if anyone has these glasses?

I've actually had just that problem. I can't see the four corners of the viewfinder through my frames, and find I'm constantly taking them on and off, with a neck cord to hold them. A real pain.

I'm going to order a pair from B&H and see how they work. Will return them if the ear wires are uncomfortable or they just don't work as described.

They're not bad looking either. If they work, I'll put photochromatic lenses in them and use them as the only glasses I need to travel.

Looks like they would work fine. I don't need my glasses to shoot, but if I did I would try one of these out. Price isn't bad either.

They look good I am not sure if the one lens thats stays closed gets in the way or not?

Since they come with clear lenses, it will be my pleasure to review them once I've had them for a little while.

One of the reasons I love my MKIII over 5D was that I can see all corners of the frame when shooting with my glasses.

I picked up a pair of these at B&H. I've been wearing them for the past three hours. Absolutely comfortable. Lens frames are big enough to see clearly, and deep enough to use progressive lenses for reading LCD menus.

The flip mechanism works smoothly and well. The frames are as well-made as any metal frames I've even had, and the ear pieces which curve around the ear are completely unnoticable when wearing them. That comfort was a big concern for me, and after three hours, I don't feel them at all. The nose rests are identical to those on any pair of well-made frames.

Inserting the eyepiece into the opening of one side of the frame with the lens flipped up is simple and without problems. However, removing it has to be done moving it toward the nose. If you remove the eyepiece toward the outside of your face, it sometimes catches on the edge of the frame. This is a minor issue, and bringing the camera away from the eye without catching on the frame will be easy to learn.

They come with a carbon fiber clamshell case, bulletproof and well made. Included is a smooth microfiber cloth. They appear to be fair-traded as the price is the same on Hoodman, B&H and Amazon, $199.

I checked with Hoodman. These have been available only since February, and so far, no returns or complaints as yet. But I must say that these frames are about as cheap as I've seen for quality frames. They're made in Korea, and if the Markins products are any guide, it explains why the flip hinges work as if they're oiled. And I hope they last as long.

I'm a techy, and these frames fill that bill. But they also clear up a major problem I've had with my glasses and taking photos. Because I wear progressive lenses for reading, I can't easily bring the camera to my eye and always get the viewfinder in the upper range of the lens, above the reading prescription. And I can't see all corners of the viewfinder with my glasses on. Taking them on and off and wearing them on a cord is a pain.

I'm taking these Hoodman frames to the optometrist tomorrow to have photochromatic UV-coated lenses made.

I just got them back from the optician. They're great. The height of each lens is enough to support my progressive reading prescription easily.

They actually look pretty sharp, even my wife, who is a pretty stern critic, thinks they look cute. And she's the one that thinks my boonie cap with its flexible brim for easy shooting, makes me look like a dork.

As I said above, these glasses solve a major annoyance issue when shooting, letting me see what's going on around me sharply, while allowing easy complete view through the viewfinder.

Yes. It's as if you don't have glasses on. As I noted above, you have to remove the eyepiece as you bring the camera down, a bit toward your nose. If you pull it out straight, it may catch on the edge of the frame.

I'm not interested in getting them, but I've got a question anyway. How'd they work if you were shooting with flash units?
