After MA on 7D exposure changes?

Here is a strange thing I've just encountered: I micro-adjusted my 100-400 on my 7D and when comparing exposures taken before and after MA, the exposure drops by about 2/3. I then tried it with another lens and the same thing happened. It makes no difference if I adjust for front or rear focusing issues. Has anyone an explanation for this?
