I tried to get on a college course, but was told that I was far too advanced for the course that I tried to go on

Does anyone agree with the tutor?

I have no idea what you are talking about. What was the class on? I'm guessing photography, but posing or lighting or general, etc. What did they see to tell you that, what can you show us.

Yeah, it was on about photography, I haven't been on a course, I feel I need to brush up on a particular area, and I can't figure out where I am going wrong

Basically I showed the tutor some of my photos that are in my flickr account, inparticularly the live music photos, he thought that I was too advanced for the course

Didn't really answer my question on what the class was really about, photography is a broad subject. But if the tutor sai you are, then that answers it. Ask them which class you should take.

I'd get back in touch and ask him what courses he would suggest - tell him what you're looking to brush up on.

Thanks, but he said something to get more involved with i.e. more likely intermediate to advanced photography

It was a beginners class, I asked him to see if I could come along to one of the classes, he agreed and told me that it was not the course I was after

Got to admit this though, most of the stuff I have learnt, was through POTN, so it proves that you lot are a great help :)

It sounds like you're trying to take an "intro to photography" course.

A good deal of an intro to photography course is learning the definitions of things like aperture, shutter speed, and "SLR", How to adjust the focus ring, and how to use the light meter.

I looked at your flickr, you know these things already.

What you want to do, is improve your technique.

You would be bored silly in an intro to photo class. Take a intermediate or advanced class like he suggested.

why would you want to take a class based on the responses to this post when the instructor himself has made a recomendation? unless you think he is just trying to fill the roster of the advanced class for some reason, let the man do his job and enroll where he thinks it will do the most good.
