good starter tripod?

What's a good starter tripod for the vertically enhanced?

I'm 6'5 and I'm looking for a good starter tripod (+ head) that I can use for regular photography. I'm looking for something that'll allow for good night-time shots and action shots at the racetrack (Autocross).

For the legs, I'm liking the Manfrotto 055XPROB legs. The max height without extension is 142cm and add a head and it's at least 155-160cm.

I'm wondering what I should get for a head, though... ball or pan&tilt?

I would like to get something that'll last me a few years and I won't grow out of.

I'm currently using a T2i and am planning on getting a Speedlite flash in the coming months, as well. Don't know if that makes a difference for the weight.

Any Manfrotto is great. They end up being a bit heavy, but are excellent. If the future, if you need a lighter one, there are plenty around.
