Does the iPad have a hard protective cover? If not, how will you transport it?
If anything was a solution in search of a problem this is.

Did you see what Steve Jobs wrote about their Flash player just last week? Basically he told Adobe to go pound sand... none of Apple's portable products are going to use Flash. Jobs clearly has disagreements with Adobe. http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ Hey Frank... You're 52 and already retired? You won't be able to do much real serious editing with what is currently available in the app store, but as a large photo storage/review device it seems pretty good so far... Imports RAW and JPG from my Canon T2i very well too. Funny since not even Photoshop can read my RAW files (profile hasn't been updated yet). Windows can't view them, no Adobe programs can view them, only a few Mac apps can view them. Really sucks...yet the iPad reads them fine.

Really sucks...yet the iPad reads them fine. Oh, and it *does* downconvert them to probably around double the resolution of the iPad (around 2100x1500 or so). It's good for viewing the pictures, but not for *very* fine details. Probably the reason it can read them is because it's not really looking at the raw data at all, but displaying the embedded jpeg; which is why they're smaller. Since the screen is just 11.6" image editing and viewing isn't optimum but it'll do. Remember the screen resolution is 1366X768. ben_r_ wrote in post #10101718 I have had my eye on that same unit. Hows it handle the Adobe apps (Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, etc)?

I've used it some in daylight. While better than my laptop screen (17 inch MacBook Pro, Unibody), it nothing to write home about in direct sunlight. I'm not saying its bad; its just a limitation inherent in the current technology. However, in the looks department, even mediocre images come to like. For a picture viewer, it creates an awesome dynamic in small groups. For example, recently did a few pictures of a small group of friends and downloaded them to the iPad. Being able to pass around the images, like a picture frame, with the butter smooth IPS screen was awesome. Sure, the color space was off (it was RAW), it was not white balanced correctly and others flaws that many here would notice; but it did not matter, the dynamic it created was simply awe inspiring. It has a setting where you can adjust the screen brightness, or it will adjust it automatically to the ambient light. the image resolution is GREAT. I don't need to use it to process my raw files and images, I just wanted it for a book reader and to be able to bring it with me when I visit my relatives in Nova Scotia, as I don't bring my laptop, and they can see my family photos on a screen bigger than my iphone. I only bought the 16gb model, but I on my 16gb iphone, I have more than 5000 large already photoshopped images (large jpgs from a 1ds) and my iphone has used less than 1/2 its available space. For those who say the ipad is only a large ipod touch, I say "EXACTLY, and I LOVE it!!!" However, if you really need to be able to process and edit your pics on it, you might be better off with a netbook. Sue Cassidy
