I'm running Win 7 64 bit and my (clean install) Photoshop CS5 upgrade won't install without having the following warnings:

--------------- Summary ---------------

- 0 fatal error(s), 4 error(s), 2 warning(s)

WARNING: OS requirements not met for {667C8B6C-3EAF-4646-A8EC-D85CCC4D3D84}

WARNING: OS requirements not met for {7DFEBBA4-81E1-425B-BBAA-06E9E5BBD97E}

ERROR: The following payload errors were found during install:

ERROR: - Adobe Media Player: Install failed

ERROR: - AdobeHelp: Install failed

ERROR: - Adobe AIR: Install failed

---------------

I've tried several times and have all virus checking, script checking, etc turned off. PS and Bridge 64 bit seem to run fine.

Subscribing as I'm gonna install PS5 later this week and am interested in the discussion.

When you say CS5 upgrade, does that require the appropriate version of PS to already be installed as a foundation for the upgrade, or do you just need the to know/input the correct activation from your previous version?

No, you just need to also have the serial number of the version you're upgrading from. I deactivated the old version, deleted it then installed CS5 clean. It's no different than installing upgrade versions on a new computer.

Adobe say's these types of errors are generally due to permissions, locked files and/or licensing. Did you perhaps have CS3 installed? If so, run the CS3 clean script and see if there was anything left behind. Did you deactivate the previous version first (left over license files will cause problems later). Here are some other ideas:

Run Installer as Administrator
Uninstall everything Adobe with Revouninstaller (link (external link)) then run CCleaner (registry) after reboot.
Did you properly remove license from previous CS?
Do you have Kaspersky installed? Even turned off it will block access to many system directory's and files.
Did you look at the installer logs (many hints in there)?
Create new user and try install again (if it works Profile may be corrupt).

Thanks Maaxum. There are a few things there to try.

All I did was deactivate the license for CS3 then uninstall the application through Control Panel. When I installed the application I turned off everything in McAfee and ensured no other apps were running.

I don't have Kapersky installed.

I'll try setting the properties to run as admin to see if that cures it. If it doesn't work I'll uninstall everything as you suggested and try again.

OK, so after dealing with Adobe about this and following some of their suggestions the only thing that worked was to create a new User as Admin and install the software from that account (Maxxum had it right :) ). It looks like Adobe is having enough CS5 installation problems that they've now created a web page dedicated to it:

http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82942.html (external link)

Now that I've installed the software is there any issue with deleting the new user account that I created (for housekeeping reasons)?

Could be my profile is wacky or maybe I have something installed under that user like McAfee AV that is causing a conflict. I did a clean boot but it didn't help at all. At least now I can get busy setting CS5 up and playing with it.

When you installed it did you deactivate and delete CS4 first or did you install over top of it? Also, are you running Win 7 64 bit?

Sorry I know this thread is old but I'm about to install CS5. Can you keep both CS4 and CS5 active? I'm asking in case I have issues with CS5, whether I'll still be able to use CS4.

I don't believe so. Even though it 'might' work, the licensing may conflict and cause weird things to happen.

I also don't believe so, but you could always ask on the Adobe support portal. They take about 1-2 business days to answer using that route.

Is there a reason you'd want to have both?

Using high power CAD systems on a daily basis leaves me skeptical about new software releases. Sometimes bugs aren't worked out in the essence of making release schedules. It's always nice to have an older version you can fall back on if needed.

Your issue above is testament to that.

I gotta tell you though that CS5 is more stable and less buggy that the copy of CS3 that I replaced it with. CS3 Bridge is awful.
