Should I wait for a 60D instead of buying a used 7D?

I'm perusing the forums for used 7Ds as I get ready to fork over half of my life savings, but I just remembered that Canon still has the 60D to release. One of the major reasons I'm buying a 7D is that it has the size of a xxD body and it's capable of 30 fps 1080 video (and it can use EF-S lenses).

I'm guessing the 60D will also be capable of 30 fps 1080 video? And it's probably going to be price a bit under the 7D. Should I wait a bit longer?

You're always a loser when it comes to electronics. As soon as you buy something, something else comes out that is bigger and better (and sometimes cheaper).

Just buy a 7D now and enjoy it.

I agree. With electronics if you wait for the latest and greatest you'll end up never buying or more importantly, enjoying what you've bought.

Given your assumptions then DEFINITELY wait for the 60D.

Of course at this time the 60D doesn't exist and there are many who believe (due to WAGs on their own part) that it may never exist.

If you need the things the 7D offers it's the right choice right now.

I would say get the 7D now.

The longer you're gonna wait, the longer you it's going to take you to go out and take pictures and enjoy the camera.

Like what others say, with electronics you're always gonna lose. Let's say the 60D comes out, then a rumor states that there's gonna be a 7D successor, then you're gonna be waiting for that. The cycle is going to go all over again.

I think I just made a better decision for myself. I'll hold my HD video needs over with a t2i for now and wait for the 60D. Once that comes out, I can compare the 60D and 7D and make a move then.

I agree you can never wait and still keep up with technology. 5 years from now, we'll have a dSLR camera with much superior video capability than what the 5D2/7D offers now.

??better than what?? Wait long enough and it might fit on a lump of sugar but you would probably have to shoot tethered to a laptop...

But there will be more technology to consider then.....whilst I realise a lot of your life-savings are at stake, I suspect that whenever you are actually are about to pull the trigger, there will always be something 'better' to choose.

Surely NOW is more important than a dream 5 years from now???

Don't want on the 60D because who knows when Canon is gonna release it. Even when released, it is prolly gonna be a dumbed down 7D.

You might want to wait a while.

I just heard a rumor that the day after we find out more about the rumor of the 60D, that is going to be a new rumor about when the 7DMKII was going to be out.

At least ... rumor has it.

Yes, but the 8D will be on the horizon then, and early reports are that it will have an integral beer spigot and pizza oven. Maybe you'd better wait a bit longer.

Sarcasm aside, if there is a product available that does what you want for a price you are prepared to pay, why wait?

I think I'd rather wait for the 9D
It'll have a jacuzzi.
