Nice job man, I really love the B&W ones! You did a good job with using the inspiration from swimchic and adding your own style to them.

thank you so much guys!...im glad uyou guys are enjoying these, he was definately a happy baby, just took sometime to warm him up, the mother was awesome aswell and very shocked at how different the experience was with me than her usual 10 minute studio portraits, i hope that when she gets her edited pictures she realizes that a lower cost doesnt always mean you are saving....she has been taking the baby since he was born for portraits and i gotta say what these big studios are doing is stealing these mother's money, we shot for close to 3 hours, let the baby nap and fed him, in Sears she told me is pretty much shut him up or give up your turn...how can you possibly capture anything good under that environment, specially dealing with babys..?

I guess ignorance is a bliss and as long as a parent doesnt know what the hell is DOF, good composition and PP then they are in fact probably satisfied with the studio portrait shot on Auto.

once again thank you guys for the kind words!

here a couple more....cant embed more than 8 per post...boo hooo

heehee - I just saw this - he is so stinkin' cute!! His smile is totally to die for :)
I don't think you jacked my style, but the fact that I inspired you, inspires me :) So thank you so much!!
I think you've done a good job here, especially getting his personality to shine through! My critique would be the lighting on some of them, it's just a little harsh. What were you using for lighting, it looks like 1 window or soft box?
Oh, and I am so in love with that hand shot - nice!

OHHH Now my thread is complete!

thank you sooo much Jeni for your feedback, I know the light was harsh, im still trying to control natural light, for a while i was into off-camera flash and although the results are cool, they are wayyy to "flashy" and definately not the route you wanna go in if your main focus is kids, babies and bellies.

on the Angel pics i had to use a softbox, only on the one in color the b&w i was still using my window light, being that my studio space is so small and the light window is literally 2 feet from my subject it becomes a challenge to control :-( any suggestions to diffuse the light??...i thought of courtains, but this is also my living room space and i dont like curtains on my windows...lol

the pictures in the park, i was chasing the sun, trying to find some shade peeking thru the trees, i think i did ok in some of them but then there are some where his hands are completely blown, im sure ill get better at finding the good spots as we go on!

thanx for being my inspiration to venture into baby photography! :-)

I shoot in my sunroom a lot. We have no curtains or blinds in there at all. Sometimes the light is nice, sometimes it's not. The best times are when the sun is high in the sky! Try watching how the light that is coming through your window changes throughout the day. There are probably times that the light is better than others. If you have blinds on the window, you might be able to use them to help control the light at the times it is at it's brightest.

Great job BTW! I really like what you did here.

Super cute set of images.. I really love the creativity here. :)

The light is a little strong on some of them with the brights vs. the shadow areas... You can always bring a reflector in to bounce some light back in the set and balance between the two extremes. Doing this will allow you to adjust your exposure better for the bright side of the shot without having such a heavy shadow on the dark side. If that makes any sense at all...

Anyway.. they are so cute and what an adorable, happy baby! :) Very nice work. :)
