17-55 IS - $900
85 1.8 - $350

Just like you a year ago, many people are being forced to part with their equipment. 2K would be enough for a 24-70 and a used 5D. If I lost all my gear for any reason, those are the peices I would get back ASAP.

I'm leaning towards that one too. I just really loved the 85 and I'm trying to work it in.

I'm sure I'll be happy with the 70-200 but I'm really curious as to how much I'll like the 15-85 vs my old tamron 17-50. We'll see in a few days when I get it and have a chance to play around with it.

Sounds solid. You have a huge range of focal lengths to work with.

The 15-85 is a VERY good lens! sharp wide open good color and contrast and a very good 4 stop IS system.

Get a 5D classic and some used L glass or the 50 1.4+85 1.8. Almost wish I had done that.
