Hi all,

I remember before buying a 7D is was really worried about the sensor overheating when filming. I thought it would be my main hurdle.

Anyway I've done a lot of filming with the 7D sinse then... even heavy usage in the 35 degree heat of the desert! But I have NEVER seen any heat warning light or any sign of overheating.

Has anybody else out there had issues with heat, or has it just been blown out of proportion a bit?

Cheers

The cameras WILL become hot after a few minutes of use. The quality will degrade as it happens. But having the camera shut down is rare. My 5dmkii shut down once due to heat, but only after about 60min of video (and starting my second 16gb card). Left it off for 10 min and it was back in perfect working order.

Ah right, maybe it's because I don't do long shots one after the other like that.

Would a quick way of cooling it off be taking off the lens for a few seconds to let the hot air escape?

I personally put a can of coke on the LCD screen for my 5dmkii, works well to get temps down quickly, without worrying about condensation problems.
