I recently "divorced" my Canon EOS 40D for the "attractive and full-featured" Canon EOS 7D. So far all I can say is "WOW! She is loaded."

Immediately I noticed the clearer viewfinder, the "clever" grouping of the AF points. I like the "grid" system to help keep the horizon level and so much more. But this is a bird forum so enough of that...

Early this morning I returned to Plantation Preserve to see what the new camera is capable of doing but the sky became completely overcast 10 minutes after I arrived. I attached my flash and did the best I could. The camera was set on Auto ISO - a great feature - and this was the best image:

Well, Tony, what can I say. Congratulations, for sure. I know you will love it even more over time. The shot of the woodpeckers looks like the same tree where I got a pair of red-bellies when you and I were there. (I'm just starting to process those photos now.) Best of luck with the 7D. Next, some long glass.;)

Stan you are right. I arrived there just in time to see the 2 woodpeckers and also the Osprey. But the lighting was lousy.

I am very anxious to see the the Spot-breasted Oriole you captured and the female RWBB that was less than 15 feet from you.

I will eventually add the 400 f/5.6 to my camera bag but according to the Secretary of Finance (my wife) I have to sell stuff before I buy more expensive gear.

(I am selling the 40D, the 28-135 mm kit lens and a Nikon film scanner to pay for the 7D.)
