Promaster UV Filter

Would I need to worry about a 77M E-UV Promaster Filter hurting the image quality on my 24-70? The person in the store hinted I should be concerned, but she didn't offer much credibility. I wanted to check before opening it, however.

I want to do is protect the lens from scratches, etc.

The product lines that are known to be the best are B+W's MRC, Hoya's S-HMC and HD or Heliopan's SH-PMC filters. Promaster's a re-brander of someone else's filters and it's pretty much anyone's guess whose. So No, I wouldn't go wit h Promaster. I use B+W MRC on all mine. More at the Protective Filter FAQ.

I wouldnt trust it... Like Jon I use B+W filters on all my lenses.

Why have doubts? Go with a reputable brand. Like others, I have B+W or Hoya PRO1D filters on my lenses.

stick with the name brands. but i THINK promaster is a re-branded hoya.
