Boost the blacks and contrast and then a curves adjustment till it looks right. When I did this conversion I lost a lot of detail in the hair which is okay because I then dodged the areas of the hair that were lost in the conversion. I still didn't get all the detail back but it's a more believable b&w. I also added some grain for overall effect.
