This is the problem,
I have a 5DmII and a battery grip.

I like to run two batteries, but the original Canon battery is the only one that is charging.

The generic one I got a month ago wont charge.
Is there a solution to this? Or is this what I get for being cheap? haha

Please, some helpful answers would be great. I only got the "cheaper" LI-ION 7.4v 2000mAh battery because lots of people on this forum said they work fine. Mine looks a lot like the picture I posted.

When I plug it into the charger, the battery does not even get warm.

Let me know.

Thanks

I've bought some generic batteries for my other cameras but stuck with OEM on my new body. I would say unless it's over $20, just buy a new Canon battery or stick with a good quality generic brand. I had some good luck with SterlinTek but not sure how well they offer 5d mk2 batteries.

Generic batteries for the 5DII/7D cannot be charged in the Canon charger.

Usually the 3rd party battery vendors sell kits which includes a charger or you can buy one seperataly. The 3rd party charger will also accept the Canon batteries.

You need another charger.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

+1, my phottix batteries only charge with the phottix charger. I got a charger and 2 batteries as a set.

need the company's own charger. Using it in your OEM charger might burn out your charger or cause fire.

So you can buy an extra if you already have the charger.
