Other than Amazon, who else would you recommend?

I've yet to find any good deals out in the "real world"... Best prices are by far ordering online. I usually use Adorama.

I find some great instant rebates at Costco sometimes.

sandisk rebates = awesome

my own experience, all bought from amazon.com (my fav store)
1x 8GB PNY UDMA = $60
3x 8GB Sandisk Ex III, after rebate = $60

and if you're wondering, the PNY UDMA is 30% faster than Sandisk Ex III

Just got one of these. Good reviews. Have not used it much yet, but paid $60.99. On sale.

i find little difference in prices between different websites and in the end tend to shop on amazon. i would go for a rebate/deal but usually they are not there when i need them for my memory needs

Not this go around. Although the Sandisk rebates in the past were great, the current one stinks!

I got my last one on newegg.com even though they charge sakes tax in TN which is annoying but it was a good deal.

I find some great instant rebates at Costco sometimes.

I just noticed that my local Costco started carrying 8 GB San Disk Ultra (30 MB/s) recently. They are currently selling for ~$35/ea, but I'm hoping there will be more instant rebates or coupons when their next cycle starts (5/13/10, i believe).

If not, I will look into other options. The 16 GB 400x Transcend looks pretty good.

---a little off topic, but do not want to start a new thread---

does anybody know why
SanDisk 8GB CF Ultra II 30MB/s is ~$30 link (external link)
and
SanDisk 8GB CF Extreme III 30MB/s is ~$60 link (external link)

same thing on amazon... i guess the question is is there anything else to a card other than the transfer speed, assuming the same brand? new gen?

If you need it right away, hit this link and there is a $10 off $30 purchase at office depot for TECH on the right hand side for mother's day, they usually have the ultra II 4 gb for $22 and 8gb for $32, so take $10 off, its a decent deal...and you get it right away.

As far as transfer speed, buffer size and speed of camera > card speed, its long and convoluted, and I'm not sure anyone has proven any real world differences (ie, losing LOTS of shots due to transfer speed of card alone) but here is not the place for that discussion.

Costco, either off the shelf or online, $34.99 for an 8gb Ultra II. Easy, close to the best price around, and return it no questions asked if you have any problems with it.
