Just got one of these. Good reviews. Have not used it much yet, but paid $60.99. On sale.

I also bought the same 16GB CF for my 5D mk II from newegg. I used to be a loyal SanDisk card user for the longest time (2002 I think?), but the prices for 16GB SanDisk Extreme cards are around $130 and I didn't want to spend that much on a memory card. The Transcend CF card works great on my 5D mk II, even for HD video.

Reviews for Transcend are good on newegg and Amazon and the prices are easier on the wallet. They even lowered the price $4 since I bought it last month:

---a little off topic, but do not want to start a new thread---

does anybody know why
SanDisk 8GB CF Ultra II 30MB/s is ~$30 link (external link)
and
SanDisk 8GB CF Extreme III 30MB/s is ~$60 link (external link)

same thing on amazon... i guess the question is is there anything else to a card other than the transfer speed, assuming the same brand? new gen?

My only guess is the Ultra II's are not UDMA supported. The Extreme IIIs are.

If you catch Staples at the right time, you can get a good deal. I got 4gb Sandisk Ex III's for $20/each.

Later this week Costco's new ad/coupon/sale starts and (some?) Sandisk memory will be $5-$15. The coupon book shows SD cards, but your local store may also be discounting CF cards. If so, 8GB Ultra (30 MB/s) cards will be <$30 each.

These will be instant discounts which I think starts on Thursday, June 10.
