When I go somewhere with family, I typically need a backpack to carry all misc stuff - light jackets, water bottles, snack, small umbrella, sometimes a netbook - and a camera with a lens attached, and maybe a second lens.

So the typical photo backpack wouldn't work for me - it doesn't have space for all the "stuff".

So far I've been using just regular $20-30 laptop backpacks you'd find in a department store, finding ones with 3-4 compartments and a laptop pocket. They are, for the most part, surprisingly well padded and roomy. The problem is, the zippers keep failing - I am on my 3rd backpack in that many years.

So, can someone recommend me a good brand that doesn't fall apart, has good amount of space, many (3 or more) large compartments, and is under $70 ? I did look at Wenger Pegasus that's supposed to be very good, but saw some people complaining about compartments being tight.

Thanks !

With a requirement for so much gear, perhaps you'd be better off with a regular backpack and an insert or capsule like a Clik Elite (external link).

Otherwise, I have a Lowepro Compurover which has a fair bit of storage plus a very good camera section.

One I was looking at was the Lowepro fastpack 250. Seems to tick all your boxes..... may be a bit tight.....

Hey
I am in the same situation as you, one bag I found that seems to fit a lot of stuff and camera gear is the

. It is a little bit out of your price range, but in person I have fit a good amount of personal items along with gear.

Thanks... I ended up grabbing a coworker's Swissgear Pegasus and it seems it will fit the bill just fine. So I ordered one. Lowepro 250 looks good too, but it seems the Pegasus is more of conventional b/p which is what I wanted.
