Trying to get the biggest bang for the buck, and keep the budget in check as well. I am tossing the ideas between what I have seen for specs so far on the 60D or going with a T2i and getting a 28-250 72mm lens for it. The one obvious plus to a 60D would be increased shutter actions per second and both will be 18mp according to the latest 60D rumors. This would be an upgrade from the XSi I have currently which would relegate it to a secondary camera. The downside is most info on the 60D is rumor at this point and ya kinda just have to base its specs off of the 50 with some improvements.

So with this in mind my questions are this. Which would you go for and why?

I understand that, but is it possibly worth waiting for the 60D due to there being a significant quality upgrade from the xx0D to the X0D bodies?

Well it's iffy with waiting. If you're going to wait it might be a good idea to pick up a 50D dirt cheap since stores will be looking offload it prior to the 60D arrival.

What do you find limiting on the XSi?

60D is not out yet, it can come out tomorrow, it can come out next month, it can come out next year. We don't know. Are you willing to wait?

If I needed a camera now, I would go with one that exists. If I didn't need a camera now, I would probably wait to upgrade since there's always a better camera or lower price around the corner. Seems like an easy choice. ;)

I have read there is a significant quality upgrade to the X0D body, so that is part of my researching things a bit. And yes I am waiting regardless until official specs come out, but trying to get a feel for what you all think first.

There's little doubt that the 60D will be a nice upgrade from the current 50D, and it will have a nice build quality and more features than the T2i. It will be interesting to see how Canon bridges the gap between the T2i and the 7D. The downside is that you should expect to spend around $1300 for the 60D if/when it's released. The 7D is currently on sale for $1600, so if you're able to stretch your bucks a little bit you may want to jump on that while the rebates are out.

Bottom line is if you can hold out, the longer you wait the more you'll be rewarded--whether it be by newer technology or by lower prices on existing technology

Waiting for the 60D?

If you are willing to wait for the 60D, why not wait a little longer for the 70D.

They both have a lot in common, neither one has been announced by Canon.

In all seriousness, if you have a need for a camera now the choice is obvious. If you're just wanting to upgrade and are afraid if you buy something now it was be made slightly obsolete by a new release, then wait.

I made a big jump when I bought the 7D, and I am extremely happy with it.

Will be getting in at the latest in the July time frame, and I know how the obsolete thing goes all to well.

Kinda pointless to be holding out for a camera that is rumored to be coming when the T2i already exists so I would go for any of the cameras that are currently available and, should the 60D make its appearance, then sell off and upgrade - or keep it.
