Mike is more or less an acquaintance of mine from a ways back, and he's a great photographer. His video was featured on the Weather Channel and he is the guest blogger on ScottKelby.com today:

I think this is yet another good example of why video (in DSLRs) is and should be here to stay:

It was a well done video, especially seeing how he stated this was his second attempt at shooting and editing. Although reading his blog entry, I never felt the human drama and tragedy he referred to. He talked about the human emotional elements, but watching the video I saw a lot of nice shots of the flooding but very little of the human emotion. If you didn't hear about how extensive and tragic the situation was, I don't think I would have walked away with that impression from the video alone.

Nonetheless, for a non-journalist videographer, I think he did a great job with the video.

Well, I have a few thoughts. First, I agree with the last post. No close ups of the human emotion on faces. I would of slapped on the 300 2.8 and fill the screen with emotion. I would have used the tripod more. I would have shot some of the landmarks at the hall of fame, Opry, etc. and emphasied music and guitars a bit.

But you know what? I didn't do any of that and his video is an internet sensation so to speak. More importantly, its an inspiration for my next video project. So I do have to say not bad at all for a second video montage!!!!

I am not from the Music City but I visited twice in two years and very much enjoyed myself. I feel bad for everyone there but I know the City will recover.
