:D That reminds me. Went to a Mustang Club Ghymkhana in Dearborn in '69 or '70 with my 'Cuda. (Ghymkhana = One at a time around a pylon course.)
My college buddy was there with his Mach 1, so I offered him a ride on my practice lap. Dumped the clutch & I heard this scream, "HOLY SH*T!" as I shifted into 2nd at about 50. Then just silence.
After, he withdrew.
I screwed up a bit in a hairpin & came in 2nd. & never had to hear about his Mustang again! :D:D:D

Sorry I missed that (Would have been great fun to watch.). I'm sure you had a good laugh about it though. ;) :D

The Captain and crew finally got their stuff together, now if we can only remember where we left it.

Past tense? Now that I remembered it, I'm STILL laughing about it! :D:D

Come to think of it, it was a Ford Motorsports Club event. Got a stinkin' little trophy I think they kept for non-club members, but shutting him up was worth it's weight in gold. ;)

Seems to be a slang problem here: muscle, sports, etc. I think what you have in mind with the term musclecar is what we called a 'sleeper': a 'regular guy' full size looking mild which was actually all out wild under the hood. Ah, memories.... going to the drive-in to watch Mel Gibson's Mad Max movie with his black primer beast?

I disagree. Here, a muscle car like the Roadrunner, Charger, 'Cuda, etc is never considered a sleeper. It just can't be! Like a Pit Bull shouldn't be considered "cuddly".
Sleeper was discussed this week in another thread, something like a primer patched, ratty looking Maverick with a 427 under the hood & a teddy bear in the back window. :D They gave a better definition, but you get the idea.

Drive-Ins & Muscle Cars! That was a great time to grow up! (Something I'm still avoiding!) ;)
