Hi everyone,

I love my new SX20, but I'm not 100% thrilled about using AA batteries (even though I bought the Eneloop rechargeables). After browsing Amazon.com today I came across this:

http://www.amazon.com …cs&qid=1273088578&sr=8-29 (external link)

Could you shoot pictures in one location (near a wall socket of course) with this plugged in? I can't imagine it could recharge your batteries at all. Would it be a good idea to purchase it if I was messing with settings at home and/or looking through pictures on the large screen?

Just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

I suppose you could use it, but the Eneloops do a pretty good job. Just have a spare set and don't worry.about it.

There are two things dealing with photography that I can count on in life:
1) I will have a brain cramp and grab my sx20 with low charged batteries and not take spare batteries with me
2) When I do #1, there will be some sort of store that sells AA batteries so when mine do die I have the chance to take a few pics that would never have happened had I only had a built in battery pack.

Well put MingFromMongo.........one of the reasons that I bought the
SX10 as well as our A610 is because they take AA's.
Like Jon says....just pick up a spare set or two.

I use a power adapter for my older Canon cameras (not my SX20). I use it when moving images/video to the computer & when viewing same on the TV. Saves draining your AAs. Yes, it is faster to upload images directly from the card to computer, but it is handy when viewing with the TV w/camera connected.

Thanks, all. :) Just popped in the Eneloops after the generic batteries died and I've been using the viewfinder more than the LCD. So far, so good. Now.... onto learning the lovely world of Depth Of Field....

Try to use the AC Adapter CA-PS700 from :
www.bestbatt.com (external link)
It is compatible with my Canon EOS Rebel XT (350D) and the Canon Powershot SX20is

One of the reasons I bought the Canon SX20 is that it takes alkaline batteries - I always carry spare sets of batteries along and I am never without battery power. Can't say the same for rechargeables. If I want rechargeables, I can always use rechargeable AAs. Nice to have that choice.
