There is nothing more you need. The V4 will mount right to the 430exII. Keep it in master mode.

There is no "Master Mode" for the 430EX(II). Anyways, I use my two speedlights with the Cactus V4 and all you need to do is ensure the flashes are in Manual mode (NOT E-TTL). Manual mode is where YOU set the power (1/1, 1/2, 1/4, etc....)

why do they have to be in M mode? im looking at grabing a set of the v4s.

because cactus triggers don't have ETTL functionality they just fire ur speedlights. The rest you have to think urself.

Work great! people bag on them but its the V2's that had problems the V4's are great

is the switch on the receiver on. i forget all the time. and needless to say, the flash has to be on as well. there is a self timer on it that shuts it off pretty quickly.

Yeah, check that little black switch on the remote, I tend to flip it all the time and not notice lol.

Also, I'm pretty sure I use my 580EXII in slave mode and it keeps it from shutting off by itself if I don't fire a shot every few seconds.

Great triggers!

i figure it out.
first time using it. i notice that if my shutter speed is too fast, i will get half black and half of the picture?
does that happen to anyone else?

The black bar is normal. You need to keep the shutter speed at 1/250s or slower (I usually stick with 1/200s)
