Hi everyone, I took some portraits of my daughter and need to choose ONE to get printed up in 8X10 size. The problem is, I like them all! Could you please give feedback and tell me which one you think is best? It is one of her 7th grade portraits. Here they are:

1. This one has less dramatic ligthing and the flowers are not in her face as much. You cannot see as much of the flowers:

2. More dramatic lighting (are the shadows too dark?), some background. Almost whole head in frame. You see more of the flowers.

3. Same lighting at #2, but fills the frame. You do not see as much of her head; cropped more on top. Very little background, you see more of the flowers, but they are not as in-focused as #2.

Any other suggestions or tips would also be greatly appreciated! (I can still edit these.) Thanks so much!

2 or 3, Closer is usually better. Although, I personally might come in a little closer and drop the roses just below her chin. And I wouldn't have her look at the flowers. I would either have her close her eyes completely, or look at the camera. (if it is supposed to look like shes "smelling the roses", close them completely.) On a second look, 2 is probably the best simply because on 3 the part in her hair is just outside the frame so it seems like her forehead is longer than it is.

I think I like the first one best. You see more of her face and it looks like she's studying the flowers. The others make me think she lost a contact in the roses and she's kind of happy about.

Cute girl by the way.

I like the first one.. I think it's nice to see the shape of her face and the outline of her chin makes her face take more presence... Just my 2-cents. :)

I would really love to see her pretty eyes and a smile too... :)

Thanks so much! She didn't like the full face ones I took that day, but I do need one for her album, so I hope to take a few more soon! :)

My order of pref is 3, 2, 1, although when printing and framing, sometimes the edges cut off, so MAYBE I'd lean towards 2.

Oh boy -- now I'm REALLY confused! LOL. Almost even between all three, but I DO appreciate the feedback! I guess I can't lose too much with any of them, but I will consider what everyone has said. It's too bad I can only choose one, but it makes no sense to print up 3 that are so similar. :)

Ha! Thanks for the input, though. Pretty evenly split, I think. :D

This is an amusing thread to me, but maybe it's just my sense of humor.

I am going to throw one more comment about #1 out there - the line at the top of her head - bugs me. :) good luck choosing!

Thanks! :) Interestingly, I read in a photography book that it is acceptable to cut off a model's head, but not her hands or feet. :)
