Is there a device which would let me attach a Canon or Nikon DSLR to a video camera?

Is there a device which would let me attach a Canon or Nikon DSLR to a video camera?

Right now I have a Nikon D90 but I have access to a Canon 7D if that is easier to attach.

The video camera is a canon hfs20.

I would like to attach these two cameras and shoot both photographs and video/film @ the same time at a prom event so as to not miss anything.

Thanks in advance!

Sven

Gaffa tape..? :)

Seriously, still cameras and video cameras will move in very different ways - I can't see how ganging them together will get you usable/watchable video *and* give you the flexibility to take great shots unless your subjects are very static.

Stick the video camera on a tripod, and take the stills yourself - or better yet, get a second person to run the other camera...

Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!

I think that constant shutter sound from the DSLR might be undesirable on the audio. Not sure exactly how loud the D90 or 7D gets.

Something that I have seen a semi-pro wedding photographer/videographer do was set two video cameras on tripods, and then walk and photograph. Occasionally he would go and change the angles or placements of the video cameras. But I thought that his work was substandard.

Might be better to hire an assistant to operate the video camera for you?????

I will be on the dance floor as well us up and down stairs and shooting from the balcony on down over the dance floor in the old play house. I will be walking amongst in the reception area and on the dance floor so can't use a tripod a whole lot. Would rock to shoot video & stills at the same time. Seems it would be easy to mount a small video camera on a DSLR or vice versa? Any gadgetry for this? Thanks!! & I would still like 2 use the flash now and then. Thanks!

doubt it. but Im almost positive you can sort of set up what you want using "L" brackets and various random pieces of hardware. not that I recommend you taking still and video at once...
