I'm new to this forum (first post) and sure could use some input regarding
my 5D. I bought this soon after it was introduced and have been enjoying the results ever since. As soon as I heard/read about the mkII and the improvements I suddenly regreted not waiting a bit longer before buying.

My question is, is there enough of a positive differnce between the two for me to sell the 5D in favor of the mkII? This is what I hate about digital technology in any shape of form. There is always something better around the corner.

Thanks folks,

You seem to know the differences between the 5Dc and the 5DII.

Ask yourself if the 5DII will better suit your needs. Will the new additions make your photos better? Will you be using the movie mode? etc...

Actually it was the increase in MP's that made me think twice. Other than that there is nothing about the mkII that would cause me to switch. Most of my work is in the architecture/landscape area.

And for your work, do you typically need to make prints 16x24 or bigger? If you do, the 5DII might serve your needs slightly better. If not, then you don't "need" to upgrade.

Good point. I've never had a need to print anything large than 16/22.
Too bad Canon doesn't offer a mod to upgrade the 5D's in the pix area.

Thanks much for the input,

If capturing detail, for larger prints, is of prime importance than the extra pixels are well worth it, imo. For a landscape photographer, an upgrade would be beneficial, imo.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
