Abe's of Maine...

Sunday night I placed an order for a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II at abesofmaine.com and I waited patiently. Few days later I get a call from the bank to confirm the charge. The next day I called them and they told me the order has been cancelled because they suspect it's some kind of fraud. That really disappointed me because my sister have an upcoming graduation ceremony this month and I will be pissed if I dont have this lens with me to shoot with.

So I placed an order again last night to see if it falls through but I'm guessing it wont. I live in NY and I would love to go to B&H to grab a 70-200mm II but the tax rate turns me off. Does anyone know of another good/free shipping vendor (not in NY) with a 70-200mm II in stock?

BuyDig/Beach have it in stock, have free ship, and I think they tax only NJ.

Amazon does not tax in Indiana... don't know about NY. According to Amazon they have 1 in stock.

Amazon doesn't have any in stock -- their "3rd party merchants" do. Make sure when you're buying from Amazon, it's Amazon themselves and not some other store. The level of service/return-policy does vary quite a bit.

I'm not sure how close you are to Erie, PA but there's a local camera shop here that has it in stock. I buy from them quite often and they are definately reputable. I got my 70-200mm 2.8 II from them for $2499. I know they do ship as well but I'm not sure what shipping would be like. Canoga Camera is in CA - I know it's across the country, but they also have stock and I have never had an issue ordering from them before.

there's a local shop in Westwood NJ called Bergen County Camera... they can ship, no web order tho... and they're good folks there... talk to Jonathan and tell him Albert (dude who bought 7D) referred you to them...

not sure on price tho, but no tax when they ship to NY
