I don't know if this belongs here, or in people, or b&w/experimental, but mods can move it to wherever. I had another night shot in th b&w/experimental section, and it didn't get too much traffic. So, here it is:

I also like the tiny star trails beginning to happen. Great job.........Joe "Joseph get your a** in here, right now!" - MY Mom

Jul 24, 2005 21:01 | #9 Thanks, bikerider. I'm waiting for another clear night to get a third "me" in there, and add longer star trails. I'm definately going for a story line, but with one exposeure. I may enlist my 6 year old son as an assistant to flip lights for me. Maybe I'll come in a little sharper, if I can bump the ISO one stop.

Jul 25, 2005 22:48 | #10 The night shoot saga continues. I think I may actually need to use a CP or a ND filter for the longer exposure times. Anyone have any advice?

Titus213 Cream of the Crop More info | Jul 25, 2005 22:59 | #11 I like them. Good night shots. It must be dark in your neighborhood to allow a 220+ second exposure. They turned out great IMO. I really like this last one. The sky color is great with good star definition. An ND filter would lengthen the possible exposure time but what are you trying to accomplish with longer times? I'm not sure what the impact on star trails would be with an ND. I've always just used a 30 minute or so exposure with the camera pointed straight up. Your foreground will present more of a challenge for that length of time. Dave

Jul 26, 2005 07:53 | #13 The last was a mistake - I was checking composition with the camera tethered to the laptop, using ISO 800 for 3-4 sec. exposures. When I disconnected the laptop, and went ahead to take the real shot, I forgot to flip the ISO back to 100. SO, I got about halfway through all the gyrations of light fiipping and posing, and realized what I had done. So, that exposyre was 132 seconds. The second to last was to be the money shot, exposure was about 36 mintutes. As Titus213 pointed out the big challenge is exposing the foreground. And oh, BTW, there are 4 ghost images of me in the second to last, though only one is really visible. This also presents a challenge. It appears I will have to stop down some more, and hold my "ghost" poses longer.
