What's this Canon service report mean?

Just got The Wife's 70-200 2.8 IS back from Canon because a progressively worsening focus error:

"Your product has been examined and it was found that the adjustment of the lens assembly was incorrect, the resolution was too low. Best focus, lens centering adjustments were carried out on the lens assembly and product functions were confirmed."

What, specifically, does that mean? I get the incorrect assembly part, sort of, but resolution? I thought that was confined to the camera body. Thanks!

It means that your lense has been properly repaired!!!

No, lenses have a resolution level as well, usually measured in how many lines per mm they can resolve.

But that's just a technical specification that a lens should be able to achieve. As stated above, the meaning of all that is "your lens is fixed".

Looks like the have realigned the lens elements and the axis of the lens to the focal plane (sensor position)

Great way to put it in complicated terms. Why say 1 word when you can say 10...

Did the calibration solve your problems?

Do you see any improvement? Would be good to have before/after shots to see what has improved or if what is specified has improved.
