God now I hate the aperture library now I have to export all masters, loose all editing etc project by project. Am glad this will be the last time as lightroom allows for simple copy and paste of image folders in it's library!

Rant over

Why do you think Aperture should give you a migration path to it's main rival, Lightroom? Lightroom wouldn't let you export all your settings, edits and configurations back into Aperture either ...

If you have your Aperture library managed, then you'll have to export your RAW files, and any edits in the form of a JPG version, if you want to keep them, then import on the other side.

Or TIFF or PSD to keep the 16 bit files.

I'm not sure what the issue is - I've found Aperture 3 much better than any of the Lightrooms, even the 3 beta. I guess different workflows for different folks.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

you all seem to miss the point.

what i want to do is copy/paste the folders with raw files in a normal way and not have to go and "export" everything through an active aperture export as that will take me months to do.

lightroom allows me to go through finder into the folder structure and copy paste raw files anywhere and anytime i wish. I dont care about the adjustments, they can be re-done

Aperture can do this too, if you chose to use a "Referenced" library.

If you chose to use a "Managed" library, then you have chosen to let Aperture store your files in it's own library file, and you'll have to export them out.

This isn't a failing on Aperture's part that I can see. It offers exactly the same options you describe in Lightroom.

Did you store your files in the Aperture library? If so, just go and right click on the Aperture Library file and click show package contents (I think that is what it is called) and navigate to the files and copy them to a new folder. From there you can easily import into LR.
