I know this has been done a million times but, I just like to slip this in. The bride and groom always love it.

Hm, maybe flip to a more light-hearted section? "And thou shalt have great sickness," and "smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease" are readily noticeable being so close to the rings. Try some New Testament, Sermon on the Mount perhaps. ;)

And if you were going for the heart shadows, you might try spreading the book further apart to flatten the shadows out a bit more.

I would also encourage you to use harder lighting as well as get in a little closer.

I actually stopped doing this shot some time ago. As much as it's cute and the couples love it, I found that most of the time, they didn't even notice the heart shadow on their own; I always had to point it out to them. So I've moved on.

For those that have seen it before its a bit of a bore. Sometimes on location, you can strugle to put the rings on something.

I also agree that it should be on a different page... first thing my eye noticed (even before the rings) was "and thou shalt have great sickness of disease of thy bowels..." Also try song of soloman or 2 corinthians. (: I have never noticed the heart shadows, until I read the comment above. But now I love it

And like I said, that's exactly why I stopped doing it. Even when I did it with very strong and hard light and boosted contrast and black levels, it always required me pointing the heart shadows out to the couple. Well sheesh, if I've gotta tell them why it's a cool image, it just doesn't seem cool anymore. That, and it can take a while to set this shot up to do it well. I've found that I'd rather do different shots with the rings more quickly and move on to other things.

Well, if you think about it, having to point out the hearts to the couple only makes you look more clever. :)

Pssst. Try the Song of Solomon. ;) It's a wee bit more fitting for the subject at hand.

First Corinthians chapter 13 is what I always use for shots like this. I usually just place the rings and the bouquet next to it and crop it close.

just a friendly reminder to stay faithful and if they don't a warning of the STDs they will catch. :D
