How to release shutter while camera is on tripod?

Another suggestion is to enable mirror lock up.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think I'm going to order the Phottix wireless remote as I found some deals for $37 through ebay with free shipping. I saw a video on youtube where a guy was using it 30-50ft away with no issues. This way I can also take some self portraits of myself & wife when we go to Cancun.
Thanks for all your help here.....only because of this I was able to narrow my choices down.

You can definitely use an RC-1 as well. someone said you can also use it to start/stop video with the 2sec option as well (i have to go home and confirm this).

oops, guess you made your decision already. Just wanted to confirm the statement I made above as I just tested it. Canon RC-1 ($18 on ebay).


If you can read this, you don't need a macro | 7D + 5DIII + Waaaay too much spent....

RF-602. IT can fire your flashes too. And yes, it does have remote shutter as well (not at the same time)
