I want to go get some shots of a historic cobblestone highway in my area. This isn't a street in an area with buildings, its actually an old highway, so it will be tree lined etc. Should I stand in the middle of the road (I can safely do this, no worries)? How low should I get the camera, etc?

Thoughts/advice/sample pictures appreciated.

I think I'd try a very low shot, emphasizing the texture of the stones. Plus others, of course.

This is the road that runs along the river where the castle is right? I've been there but it was quite a few years ago.

Your road is bricks, not cobblestones. Still, I like the 4th.

Thanks guys... you're right, not cobblestone. I may be shooting some of those today in the old market if the weather cooperates.

I grew up along the Lincoln Highway in Chester County, PA - west of the famous "Main Line" area of suburban Philadelphia. It's a heck of a road, I wonder how long it would take to drive it these days, from NYC to SF....

4 is good. Try shooting down some more, putting the end of the road in the upper 1/3rd as well. Don't worry about the trees, just try and it and see what that looks like.

Something like this:

Not a good comp, but you see what I'm talking about.

I don't like this shot to much, way to much road, gives you the feeling you're just standing there and not dreaming or the feeling of going down a curvy road.... I think a road shot should give you that feeling, the feeling of wanting to drive down that road....
