I recently upgraded to a 5D. That now leaves me with three bodies. My inclination is to keep the 20D and sell the 40D. Are the newer features, like live view, worth double the value?

Lenses that I have are in my sig.

Any thoughts?

20D reached end of life, means it will hard to get serviced or repaired if it breaks. So I'd keep the 40d

I'd keep the 40D. I think that the higher pixel density might be to your advantage, and live view is useful at times.

Plus, it's newer and should remain servicable a couple of years longer.

I had the same bodies as yours. I have let go of my 20D and kept the 40D together with the 5Dc.

I'd sell the 40D. It has more value and you'll be using the 5D most of the time anyways. The 20D is a good backup.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

which wasn't the question asked....

Between the two I'd definitely keep the 40d, just for the newer feature set, better resolution, and the fact that it's most likely seen less use (theoretically has more service live left).

I'd see what the 20D is really worth used, which I must guess not to be very much. That having been said it might not be a terrible idea to simply keep it as an emergency reserve body in case one of your two regular use cameras fails. You would still have a backup. For what you could reasonably get for the 20D it might not be such a bad idea to simply keep it around "just in case".

That's the pack rat in me speaking I guess.............

Keep the 40D as it would be more serviceable.

Or sell them both and buy a 7D! :D

The best fiscal and longterm results move, isn't always at the forefront of an OP's train of thought, thus the impetus for them to be asking questions in the first place.

With both a 40D and the 1D2n in my bags...that choice is easy............
