Heard a rumor today that Canon might re-release the 50 1.0. I have no idea how good the sorce is but I do know he talks directly to Canon. Cant imagine what they will charge for it.

It is just a novelty lens; its the edsel of L lenses "Evidently the photo shop at the college I go to is one of the best in the country. They actually have a handful of digital medium format cameras for students to use; Haliburtons, or hasslehoffs, or something like that."

Leica would be over $5000 even if it was 1.4 just because it´s Leica. Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS, Canon EF 50 f/1.4, Sigma 120-400 f/4.5-5.6 OS, Canon Speedlite 580EX II

Hm... can you tell us where exactly you heard this rumor or who your source is, what is his occupation and so on? And also what exactly means "he talks to Canon" - who is Canon? A cleaning lady? Somebody from development? The CEO? Or is he a psycho who talks to his camera? A screenshot or link would be the best. airfrogusmc I'm a chimper. There I said it... More info | May 08, 2010 22:35 | #11 MMX wrote in post #10145647 Leica would be over $5000 even if it was 1.4 just because it´s Leica. Nope, its because Leica M glass is that good. There are very few Canon Ls that can run with Leicas medium rated glass and even fewer that chart where their (Leicas) really good glass is and the Canon lenses that can run with them are in the 4K low end + range.

Cant say who, as I think it was a slip. But he is one of the top wedding shooters that we all know. Looks like a 32 inch inseam, 36 waist, XL shirt, not the best haircut, But I dont think any of that is relevant. MMX wrote in post #10146383 And also what exactly means "he talks to Canon" - who is Canon? A cleaning lady? Somebody from development? The CEO? MMX wrote in post #10146383 Or is he a psycho who talks to his camera? This is always a possibility. I can not confirm or deny. MMX wrote in post #10146383 A screenshot or link would be the best. I did not get it from the web. And it is kinda hard to do a screenshot of a conversation.

To be honest I don´t know any wedding photographers at all Mark1 wrote in post #10148337 That means he talks to people that work from canon. At least it does to most people. I´m pretty sure that except the engineers and their managers even other Canon employees don´t have any confirmed information about their future products. On Sunday April 18th, afternoon, during Photo Fest Ireland in Dublin* I spoke with two Canon employees about the new 24-70 L and one of them said that even if he had some information he wouldn´t tell neither me nor the other guy. So I really don´t think that a photographer (no matter how good he is) can simply walk into Canon office and ask: hey guys, what new gear are you preparing for us? Mark1 wrote in post #10148337 This is always a possibility. I can not confirm or deny. So there is always a possibility that what you say is not true Mark1 wrote in post #10148337 I did not get it from the web. And it is kinda hard to do a screenshot of a conversation. What logic they held was washed away with the advent of digital. Well, there's more to f/1 than low light. The incredibly shallow depth of field has its uses. I'm not sure I'd want one, and I certainly wouldn't want to pay the price that it would command, but folks are paying a pretty penny for the old 50/1.0L used these days. Tom
