In you're shopping cart type in the discount code AALOYAL and receive 10% off all Sigma lenses at Abe's. This 10% code is old news, but many have not seen this before. Thought I would post this for the new 70-200 since I am thinking about getting one myself.

http://www.abesofmaine.com/item.do?item=SG70200OSAFC (external link)

$1,699.00 - 2% BCB ($33.98 ) - 10% code AALOYAL ($169.00) - $15 code LOYALTY15 = $1481 ($217.98 Savings)

The Abe's CS rep I talked to today said 1-2 weeks for this lens to be shipped and that sounds to me like there is no real date set.

I have this lens in my cart with the discount applied but I probably won't pull the trigger. Just thought I would pass this a long since the new 70-200 is a hot topic right now.

BTW, they have/will have the 8-16 in limited quantities (ships in 2-3 days) for $699 - 10% ($69) = $629.10

WTF!?! Seriously? OS for Sigma now costs $1000? BS! Well screw that then. I can get a used Canon version for less! That price will definitely drop. Now I'm scared of the 17-50 OS HSM.

As far as I know this lens is geared to compete with the new Canon 70-200 2.8 IS mkll and Nikon's VR ll.

Realistically the quality will probably fall somewhere between the 70-200 2.8 IS MKl and 70-200 2.8 IS MKll. Only time will tell.

The Sigma is still not weather sealed. Yes, I would get the Canon version markI instead.

I'm more concerned with optics. If I need weather protection I am not going to rely on weather sealing, i'll buy body and lens protection.

I think we should direct any debate / criticism about the new sigma 70-200 to an appropriate thread, such as this, this and this and keep this thread on topic for the market watch section.

I edited my original post to show BCB and the $15 off code.

BCB 2% is good for the original price of the lens. The sigma 10% code is also good for the original price.

Might be worth mentioning that the new 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC OS HSM using the same codes/bcb is a viable option as well.

Absolutely! This deal is good for any Sigma lens at abesofmaine.

LOYALTY15 doesn't work on Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens, even if you don't use AALOYALTY; it also doesn't work for Sigma 8-16mm lens :(

It also specifically doesn't work on pretty much all the popular Sigma lenses: 8-16mm, 10-20mm (works for f/3.5 version), 30mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4.....

Guys, it's not AALOYALTY, it's AALOYAL ;)

As far as I know, there is no such code as AALOYALTY

The correct codes to stack is AALOYAL (10%) and LOYALTY15 ($15)
