Cutting/Patching cs3

Hey all......I am still using cs3. I have some soccer shots that would be great if I could remove a soccer bag in the BG or a a persons leg that is in the frame. The shots are cropped tight as it is.
What is the best way to clone out, or cut a section of grass from the picture and copy it to hide any object in the bg i don't want?
I have tried, but the cloning makes it look blurry and too obvious.

Healing Brush.

You might want to try doing both. Clone out the offending item. Then on a separate layer paste in a bit of similar grass then adjust the opacity of the pasted area to bring back some texture to the cloned area.

Cloning is problematic because of the blurring you mentioned, and (sometimes) also repetitive patterns.

Healing is great, but lousy at the edges of the photo, or near edges of other elements in the photo.

I would copy a section of grass and mask it in. Then clone or heal to tidy up the edges as necessary.

I am working with these steps now. The cloning/healing blurring issue still prevailed. It's ok for some stuff.....I will keep trying this latest advice.
