You can combine tours, and it is less expensive to do that. Me personally, I'm leaning towards all three (yes, I'm greedy...); the Inside Adventure (for Buffalo and fox), the Seal Rock, and then the Glass Bottom Boat...dunno what the price is for all three, though, since I didn't think anyone would be interested in that sort of running all day. And I'm not sure about the timing; one or the other of the tours may preclude another...

It looks like, though, that if we do that, we will have to be over in Avalon. I think Two Harbors would be nice and quaint to shoot, but I also think we'd run out of targets pretty quickly...and the only tours out of there are the seal rock, the Buffalo Safari, and one other (and I can't recall...). The tours are also run by a different company, so I doubt we'd be able to combine them like we can the ones in Avalon.

Thomas, I'm in the area, so if you can handle a smoker, we could car-pool down to San Pedro if you want. I'll do the driving (and yes, I'm a good driver...I promise). If anyone else in the SF Valley wants to car-pool, we can handle it (I think I'll have a Ford Explorer...lots of room for gear and people).

This, my fellow photogs, is going to be absolutely great fun. Just great, great fun. I am really looking forward to it! Besides, I need to throw Steve Parr overboard, so that should be some fun shooting there....;)

Heck yeah.

And you won't be the only smoker there, either.

Noni, the two tours you proposed sound good to me. You know, when you get a group of people together, you rarely get a consensus on anything. I think the Inside Island Adventure and Seal Rock would be excellent. Personally, I would pass on the glass bottom boat thing. I spent 20 years in the Navy; boats aren't supposed to have glass hulls. It just ain't right.

I'll pencil this in on my schedule for the 10th. I'd also suggest that, as we get closer to the date, those someone departing from San Pedro/Long Beach area exchange cell numbers with someone departing from Dana Point, just in case a boat is late or what have you. Hey, it happens.

This should be a lot of fun. Thanks for the hard work!

Steve

Make that 3 Smokers...

I like the idea of all 3, and my Wife will be tagging a long and has ALWAYS wanted to do a glass bottom boat ride (I've done them a few times, they are a lot of fun)

Look foward to this! The wife and I may go out the day before and grab a room and have a little Mini Vacation, or stay behind, It all depends.

I'm really interested in the glass bottomed boat thing, too (and I was in the Navy). Maybe some of us can squeeze all three tours into the day.

Also, I'm not a smoker, but smokers don't bother me. I know what the habit is like. I smoked two packs a day for 20 years, but finally quit a little over six years ago...

We are going to have so much fun!!! JSolie, there will be more, and your youngest's birthday is an important event (with lots of photo ops!!).

I really need the escape, as well as the photo learning. I'm the newbie here, so expect to get lots of questions about things.

So far, we have the following folks coming:
Steve Parr
ThomasCanty
Johnny Thunder (and wife)
Me and my best friend

Who else is coming??

The idea about cell numbers is great.

I'll see if we can't get a sticky going, now that it's more firm and coming together. Wheeeeeeee!

It looks very promising. We'll will have just returned from a trip to Reno, and might be a bit fatigued, but Catalina is a place we love, so maybe we'll find a burst of energy deep inside. If so, we'll be there. We might decide to swim to save the boat fare. (more money for air fresheners with all the smokers that are going to be there  )

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

What?!? You'll drive to the harbor from the middle of hell (well, it's that hot, isn't it?), with these gas prices, then balk at the boat fare?

Noni, you can probably also add my coworker, Danny, and his new wife Jana to the list of attendees. He has an account here (Pinarello), but so far he's only been a lurker.

Thomas, that's excellent!!!!!!!! The more, the merrier!!!

And Belmondo, you've GOT to come. Don't let so much energy escape in Reno (it's not Vegas, after all) and besides, you can sleep on Sunday. And don't bother swimming; there're sharks in them thar waters!

This is going to be so much fun; I'm really looking forward to meeting you all, and learning tons and tons. And taking some great pictures, too...

The date is September 10, 2005; it's a Saturday, the first one after Labor Day.

I hope you can make it!

Got a 1 out of 3 chance that I am on call that weekend. If so, I have to stay within 30 minutes of Fullerton. That would knock Catalina out for me, but Brea is going to have some evening concerts. I had pretty good luck with them last year.

That's because I haven't got my head out of my a$$ long enough to get the whole thing posted in one place. Sorry.

I'll make sure I get it handled tomorrow. Again, I do apologize. It's been a bit rough, tense, stressed and weird in my world as of late.
