I have a set of Genesis 200's, and a 580 EXII

I was wondering if there is a beauty dish out there that can mount to both? Something with an elinchrom mount, and the option to mount to a cold shoe on a light stand (I have an umbrella mount already) or something similar

I'm just looking for the most flexible option - something I can use in my home studio, but also take on the road with me.

I've seen the ebay elinchrom mounted dishes, which will likely be my best option if such a beast doesn't exist.

A bit pricey but the "solution" is a BD with an Elinchrom mount and a Kacey Bracket with Elinchrom adapter:

The BD will mount directly to your Genesis lights like any other Elinchrom mount accessory and will also mount to the Kacey Bracket/Adapter allowing you to use any shoe mount flash.

Aslong as you have some sort of bracket to use your 580, something like the one posted above.

Some drilling, bolt n nuts and you'll mount it no problem.

My BD, has the speedring, and the elinchrom mount screwed together, allowing me to take the elinchrom part out and screw in a bowens if i wanted, or in your case a separate ring that ive plugged to a bracket in any number of permanent or non-permanent way.

Thanks guys, I'll pick up the dish first and go from there - shouldn't be hard to build something from Home Depot parts! Just didn't want to re-invent the wheel if there was a simple, easy thing already on the market.

The Kacey Bracket is nice, but a bit pricey on top of the dish ...

Genesis uses the Elinchrom bayonet doesn't it?

a Kacey enterprises elinchrom adapter will work for you as well.

yes. i just didnt know if the OP ended up going with this solution and had some feedback.

my big question is whether the modeling lamp on the Genesis will fit with the Kasey dish.

Sorry - I hadn't got that far yet - had to put new brakes on the car, and that ate up the budget. For some reason, the wife thought the brakes should be first!

Here's an offbeat approach to doing what you want to do:

This bracket relies on what amounts to an oversized hose clamp to latch onto the back of an Elinchrom or Bowens mount accessory. Up to three shoe mount flash units can be accommodated. I'll give them A for effort.
